Warm Weather Things I’m Currently Obsessed With… | #4

It’s been quite a while since I published an article in my ‘I’M CURRENTLY OBSESSED WITH‘ series! We are long overdue for a roundup of items I’m swooning over.

Today’s list consists of lovely, conscious things for the warm weather days ahead. And many of these items came along with me on my recent trip to Sauble Beach.

ETHICAL OUTFIT // ORGANIC COTTON TOP BY MATE, LINEN SKIRT BY SLATE WEARABLES, CORN-LEATHER BAG BY ALEXANDRA K, RECYCLED FIBER SHOES BY ROTHY’S

Linen Pieces from Slate Wearables

Who doesn’t love linen in the summer? Slate is a Vancouver-based slow fashion company that manufactures locally. I’m swooning over many of their elevated linen pieces, like the new Talia tank and the Sienna Mini. (You may have seen it featured in a few of my ‘Sustainable Style Diary’ videos lately.)

Honey Hair Scrunchies – Hair Accessories

It’s well known that ‘fashion people’ love fall because you can layer. But here’s the thing: you can sport interesting and unique ‘fits in the summertime too. You just need to layer and accessorize in a different way. Hats, clips, hairbands, and scrunchies can all make a statement in a similar way that a scarf or coat can. Honey Hair Scrunchies is a black mother-daughter duo who hand-make their gorgeous hair accessories.

COOLA – Tinted Matt BB Cream SPF 30

I’ve mentioned in previous articles how much I love the COOLA brand of sunscreen. Because I have oily, acne-prone skin, I’m a huuuge fan of their matte formulas. The tinted version has completely stolen my heart though. It provides enough coverage on top of my existing skincare routine that I truly don’t feel I need anything else most days.

FitGlow Beauty – Vegan LipLiners

If you’re anything like me, tracking down a high-quality, clean vegan lip liner is nearly impossible. FitGlow Beauty has come to the rescue with these gorgeous pencils! Out of the trio that I purchased, I use Buff the most. But all three shades are highly wearable and blendable. (Nude is a near dupe to Pillow Talk by Charlotte Tilbury.) Plus they just released a true red shade.

These lip liners have become a staple of my beauty routine. I wear one or two most day and swipe a lip plumper or lipstick on overtop.

Vetta Capsule – The Convertible Sleeve Blouse

I’d had my eye on Vetta for years. They specialize in multi-wear pieces manufactured in ethical factories. Their garments typically feature sustainability-minded fabrics. And they just released their Convertible Sleeve blouse in several limited-edition deadstock fabrics! I personally love the windowpane fabric. But hurry, it’s very limited in stock!

Encircled – The Everyday T-Shirt Dress

I do love a breezy summer dress! This one is made in Toronto, features the perfect knee-length, pockets (!), and is made from bamboo Rayon which lends to it’s universally flattering design. Encircled brings back The Everyday T-Shirt Dress each year. And I’m really drawn to the various striped fabrics that they just launched: beige, black, or navy stripes! Of course, their classic solid colours are also available too.

Alexandra K – Grape Leather Sneakers

White sneakers are a must for warm weather. These new sneakers from vegan luxury brand Alexandra K are super chic and feature innovative grape leather. They are available in a few colour variations. And for North American buyers shopping Alexandra K, who is based in Poland, you may want to check out Alltrueist for easier and cheaper shipping options.

Alexandra K – Joy vegan handbag

I own two Joy handbags (one in olive and one in blush) from Alexandra K because I truly love the design so much. She just launched a bunch of beautiful neutral colors and a second size. There are even a few variations on the Joy handbag that are made from plant fibers.

I really like that I can move around hands-free with this bag and that the large strap is adjustable. Because of its classic design, it elevates even the simplest of outfits. I have been wearing my blush one non-stop while I’m traveling (or just grocery shopping.) You’ve probably seen this bag featured way too many times on my Instagram OOTDs.

Heirloom Hats – Arbor Visor

When I’m not wearing sunscreen, you will find me shaded by a large sunhat. If you asked me last week how I feel about visors, my response would have been a snort-laugh. But (!) then I stumbled upon this beauty! Not only is this artisan-made hat, dare I say, chic, you can also style your hair however you like!

Acca Kappa – Vegan Wooden Hairbursh

This is really an all-season item. But I have been hunting for an ethically made, non-boar bristle hairbrush for years! This one is made in Italy.

This brush is great for all types of hair and is ideal if you need to disperse product evenly through your stands.

Lift – Hairspray

So… this is more like a salt spray than a traditional hair spray. Which is exactly why I love it! For those of you who prefer to air-dry your hair when things start heating up, this product can add volume and shape. Use sparingly! This bottle will last you a lifetime.

And if you’re in need of styling cream for curls or thicker hair, the Hair Holistic Studio also stocks Innersense, who’s Curl Control is wonderful.
