My Green, Botanical Based Haircare Routine
Rahua to the Rescue!
Pampering my hair with Rahua Voluminous Shampoo, Conditioner, and Legendary Amazon Oil is the best thing I could have ever done for it. I’ve been struggling to find the right mix of products for my fine, colour-treated hair for a long time!
Read on to see how changing my routine gave me insight into what was making my hair dull and unruly. Plus, the transformation that has happened since I switched to Rahua.

My Hair Journey
When it comes to green/natural shampoos and conditioners, I feel like I’ve tried them all. Over the past 5 – 6 years, I’ve gone through various moisturizing and volumizing hair products from too many brands to count. Most of them were “just okay.” They left my hair temporarily looking decent, but within a few hours, my hair would either go completely flat or unflatteringly puffy. Throughout my 20’s, I did frequent platinum blonde treatments. So the ends of my hair are nearly fried. To make matters more frustrating, my scalp gets oily fast.
By day two, my fine hair looks limp, frazzled, and gross. I would try to coax some life into it with hot tools and dry shampoo. But really, that was just making things worse over time.
Switching to Botanical-Based Hair Care
I’ve heard a lot of hype around the quality of Rahua hair care products. They also embody all the ethos that I love: sourcing respectfully from nature, no nasty chemicals, and stunning packaging. If I’m being honest, the price tag made me a little hesitant. But after my pleasant experience with Rahua’s Legendary Amazon Oil, I decided to indulge myself with their Voluminous Shampoo and Conditioner too.
I’m pleased to report that my hair has never looked and felt this good! 💁♀️
Rahua Legendary Amazon Oil
Let’s start with Rahua’s Legendary Amazon Oil because I think it would be suitable for most hair types. The base of organic oils from calendula flower, aloe, and coconut means this formula is great for those with dry or neglected hair. The powerhouse ingredients of rahua oil, morete oil, and sacha inchi seed oil are respectfully harvested and sourced from the Amazon. These oils are deeply nourishing and rich in omega-3 fatty acids. But they also contain vitamins and carotenoids which help repair the hair shaft and protect against UVA rays. Used sparingly, it won’t add too much weight either.
I warm a single half-pump of the Legendary Amazon Oil between my palms and smooth onto the ends of my hair. It can be used on damp to prevent frizz or on dry hair to tame fly-aways. If you have thicker hair, you may be able to use more, but I only apply it my ends. The longer you use this oil, the better your hair will look.
A final tip: Don’t stop at your hair. This oil can be used on your nails, cuticles, hands, elbows, knees, and heels.
Rahua Voluminous Shampoo and Conditioner
Striking a balance between volume and hydration is key for my high-maintenance mane. Too drying, and my hair becomes puffy; too heavy and it looks limp and greasy. I relied heavily on dry shampoo to pull off “second-day hair.” There was no winning, it seemed.
After just one use of the Rahua Voluminous Shampoo and Voluminous Conditioner, I knew I’d found my dream match. Coming out of the shower, my hair felt light, but I could also easily run a brush through it (!)
It’s worth pointing out that I go through the shampoo faster than the conditioner. The conditioner works so well, I only need a very small amount to moisturize all of my hair. (I don’t apply it to my scalp.) On another on a positive note, I don’t rely on dry shampoo anymore!
I distinctly remember looking in the mirror 12 hours after using the Voluminous Shampoo and Conditioner for the first time. I was taken aback by how clean, healthy, and non-greasy my hair looked. Waking up the next morning, it was still looking great. My mind was blown.
The Difference of Using Pure, Botanical Ingredients
The ingredient lists for this shampoo and conditioner are very interesting! (You know me, I’m an ingredient nerd.) The Voluminous Shampoo includes green tea antioxidants, citrus juices, lemongrass, and sea salt to add volume, while organic Aloe and Rahua oil treat dryness. Eucalyptus adds an uplifting scent, but evidently, it also prolongs the cleanliness of your hair. Maybe this is why my hair is less greasy?
The ultra-rich Voluminous Conditioner contains a similar recipe of organic botanicals but adds Shea Butter and Jojoba oil to the mix. As mentioned previously, I only need a small amount and avoid my scalp area.
The Change in my Hair
I’ve observed several unexpected changes since I’ve switched fully to Rahua products. Shockingly, my hair looks different when I let it air dry. My roots have natural volume with way less oil buildup. My parched, crispy ends have become less wild. Overall, my hair looks straighter, cleaner, and healthier. I no longer reach for dry shampoos, flat irons, or curling tools as often as I used to.
After 2 months of use, I’ve noticed that my hair is growing faster! Cleansing the scalp properly and removing buildup is imperative for a healthy hair foundation. I’ll be the first to admit that, up until recently, I wasn’t taking that advice seriously.
I’ve heard that detoxing your hair care can work wonders, but I wasn’t expecting to see such a difference. Especially given how damaged and lifeless my hair had become. It seems like I’ve finally found a solution that works really well for me. It just took 6 years.
This post turned out to be a little longer than I expected. But I wanted to share my full haircare and hair transformation journey with you.
Overall, I’m really pleased with the results. Have you tried Rahua hair care products yet?
