My day-to-day vegan makeup routine is one of my most requested topics! So I’m happy to share my current cruelty-free, non-toxic makeup routine with you today. Dusan treated me to a weekend at The Four Seasons Toronto, and we had a wonderful time relaxing (and eating!) together. You can catch my Instagram Reel of our luxurious weekend to see what we did during our staycation. (Spoiler: Eating loads of savoury vegan food, swimming, massages, and lots of just chilling out together.) Can you blame me for wanting to stay in this robe all day?
Instead of foundation, I start with a skincare cocktail. I blend equal parts COOLA Rosilliance Tinted BB Cream SPF30 (shade Golden) and Eminence Wild Vanilla SPF Day Cream, plus the Isle of Paradise Self Tanning Drops (Medium), together in the palms of my hands. I massage this skincare blend into my face, neck, and chest. Under my eyes, I will dab a little bit of Biossance eye cream. Lymphatic drainage is a huge part of my skincare routine. So I will also use the opportunity to stroke my skin upwards towards my hairline, focusing on moving the lymph fluid that collects in the center of my face. I also massage my jawline and throat, moving any lymph buildup down to my collar bones.
Even with natural, lightweight foundations, my skin still gets clogged too easily. Because of this, I instead rely on a healthy skincare routine. And of course, having a little tinted colour to your moisturizers does blur imperfections. Sure, I still have some old acne scars peeking through, but I’ve learning to embrace the skin I’m in.
If you’ve been following me on YouTube, I’ve pretty much stuck to the same concealer routine for years. It’s a tried-and-true combination that works beautifully on my acne-prone skin. My key is to use as minimal an amount of these concealers as possible! All three formulas are lightweight and blend out easily. I start with the 2nd Skin Peach Color Corrector by 100% Pure, focusing just on my inner eye area where I have some blue/purple tints under my skin. I blend that in with a concealer brush.
Next, I dab about 3 dots of Ilia’s True Skin Serum Concealer on my under eye area (shade 1.5 Suma) and then I lightly dot 100% Pure’s 2nd Skin Concealer (shade 2) across my upper cheekbones, jawline, and between my brows. Using a big flat-topped foundation brush, I buff out the concealers until they are seamless with my natural skin.
Because I have oily skin, I finish with a very thin veil of the Cloud Set Baked Setting & Smoothing Powder by KOSAS in the shade Pillowy – Sheer Medium Tan. (Those with dry skin should skip this step.)
Another makeup-skincare hybrid that I love is the Illuminating Eye Serum & Primer by KYPRIS. This is part botanical eye cream, part primer. Using the dropper, I dab a tiny bit on each upper eyelid and then tap in gently with my fingertips. Any leftover I will gently pat along my under eyes and across my browbone and brows. This will help eye makeup products, like concealer, brow gel, and eyeshadow stay put, but it also adds a very subtle sheen.
I will quickly curl my lashes and like to incorporate a drop of serum* onto the curler for a double-whammy: lashes and skin don’t get pinched and the serum of your choice gets deposited at the base of your lashes. Next, I quickly swipe on some Eyebrow Definer by Hynt Beauty in Taupe and brush through.
Often I will stop here, but if I’m feeling extra fancy, I will finish my eyes with some eyeshadow and mascara. Lately, I’ve been loving the Uplift Mascara by Bite Beauty. And I’m not into super fussy eyeshadow these days. Instead, I’ll tap an eyeshadow brush into my face bronzer and work that into my crease. Over my eyelids, I use a simple wash of a shimmery formula. Here I’m wearing an Aether Beauty eyeshadow topped with RMS Beauty’s Luminizing Powder in Grande Dame.
*In case you’re curious, I’ve been using Odacite’s All-Embracing Serum. It’s a stellar multi-tasking serum that I also use in my nighttime skincare routine.
Since picking up the FitGlow Beauty Vegan Lipliners last year, I’ve been using them constantly. They are one of my favourite makeup product purchases to date! I’ll line my lips with Nude and then dab on some lip plumper. My current go-to is FatLip Plant-Based Plump by Good Goddess. Personally, I really enjoy how this combo makes my natural lips look. The FatLip formula is a little intense, which I like, and the pretty pearlescent-pink transparent colour should flatter all skin tones.
If I want to add a little more oomph to my look, I will sparingly dust some bronzing powder across my cheeks and forehead and add a little highlighter to my nose, cupid’s bow and cheekbones. For bronzer, I’ve been using the 100% Pure Cocoa Matte Bronzer in Cocoa Kissed or Ilia’s Madeira Bronzer when I want a more sexy glow. In these photos, I’ve used the matte bronzer by 100% Pure.
I hope you found my routine helpful!
