Trying out Pixi Products

The cruelty-free drugstore brand finally comes to Canada.

Pixi is such a cute brand! Not only are they cruelty-free, but the packaging is adorable and the pricing is accessible.

However, up until recently, it’s been difficult to find Pixi products in Canada. The other day I was doing my weekly peruse through Shoppers and stopped dead in my tracks. (It was most likely due to the gold packaging. I’m a sucker for gold packaging.) Could it be?? YASSS! Pixi is now available at Shoppers Drug Marts across Canada. Meaning, we have one more drug store brand that makes cruelty-free options within reach for all!

I picked up 3 items to try out. 2 makeup items and one skin item.

Here are my first impressions:

Endless Silky Eye Pen – SageGold

Pros: The pencil is soft with great colour deposit! It’s a deep forest green with gold shimmer, so it pairs beautifully with both greens and gold hued eyeshadows. Once it’s in place, it doesn’t move. I think these liner pencils are reasonably priced.

Cons: Wears down fast, and I have to resharpen often. A little difficult to remove, but not a deterrent.

Final verdict: I would repurchase in other colours!

Natural Brow Duo – Natural Blonde

Pros: It does an ok job of creating a natural, full-brow look.

Cons: The pencil end is VERY stiff and you have to press hard to get pigmentation down, even after warming up the product on the back of my hand. The tinted gel comes out too thick with the applicator wand and deposits way too much on the brows. When the gel dries, it’s super hard, shiny and can look flaky if you disturb the gel.

Final verdict: I’ll use up the product, but would not repurchase unless the formulas were reworked.

Glow Peel Pads

Pros: Shrinks pimples and deeply disinfects pores. Helps fade acne scars. Smooths skin’s texture! I like to use it around my hairline and jawline, where I get little bumps. It seems to keep those in check.

Cons: It’s a pretty intense treatment, and I would not advise using it every day. Dries out the skin. A little on the expensive side.

Final verdict: These pads are a lifesaver when my skin is going crazy. I would recommend to those with problematic skin. Make sure you follow with a healing serum and nourishing moisturizer.
